About Sunset Cliffs

Thanks to its proximity to the ocean, Sunset Cliffs enjoys a moderate climate, with clear, sunny days common throughout the year. Although summers can be hot, ocean breezes keep things from becoming stifling. Residents enjoy an active lifestyle, and there are plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park runs the length of the neighborhood's western border, following the dramatic coastline. Here, you'll see local joggers and cyclists making their way along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, as well as fishermen and women trying their luck from the bluffs.

Along the shoreline, tide pools offer hours of fun exploration. Surfers from all over the world come for the epic waves that crash against the cliffs. Given its name, it isn't surprising that the best sunset views in the city can be found here. Each evening, the cliff tops draw visitors and locals, all of whom gather to watch the incredible show.

There's little in the way of commercial activity in Sunset Cliffs, and that's the way folks like it. Aside from a couple of restaurants at the northern end of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, the community is quiet and residential. That said, Point Loma is home to a wide range of dining and entertainment options, all within an easy 10-minute drive from Sunset Cliffs. The most popular culture, shipping, and dining destination is Liberty Station, a waterfront urban village in the redeveloped Naval Training Center. Here, you'll find breweries, restaurants, galleries, and boutiques, as well as museums, art studios, and dance companies.
