About Scripps Ranch

Scripps Ranch's quiet and picturesque neighborhood streets have a relaxed, low-key vibe, and living here feels a little like traveling back in time. It's common to see children playing together outside while neighbors gather around the grill to enjoy a couple of beers and good company. It's easy and safe to get around the neighborhood without a car, and there are well-marked bike lanes throughout.

Like the rest of the San Diego area, Scripps Ranch enjoys a fantastic climate, with warm and sunny days throughout the year. This means residents are able to spend much of their time outdoors, taking advantage of all their community has to offer.

Miramar Reservoir is one of the most popular places to spend a summer afternoon. Located at the northern edge of Scripps Ranch, this 160-acre reservoir is famous for its crystal-clear water. Locals enjoy fishing from their own boat or from a rental, as well as kayaking, tubing, and swimming. Along the shore, there's plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy a picnic, and there's also a 6-mile paved trail for those who need to work off some steam.

Jerabek Park is another popular green space that features tennis courts, baseball fields, playgrounds, and a basketball court. Elsewhere, the private Scripps Ranch Racquet Club offers swimming pools, gyms, and basketball courts across two locations. Although there's a long waiting list to gain membership, existing memberships can be transferred from one homeowner to the next after the sale of a home.

Scripps Ranch has plenty of shopping and dining options, with two large shopping centers in the northern part of the neighborhood. Scripps Ranch Marketplace is the community focal point and features grocery stores, boutiques, and restaurants. There are restaurants and breweries throughout Scripps Ranch, with options ranging from Mexican and Pizza, to more upscale eateries. Folks around here love their beer, and there are several highly regarded brewpubs in Scripps Ranch, all serving up pints of locally brewed ale.

A highlight of the local cultural scene is the Scripps Ranch Theatre, a non-profit institution that's been providing fantastic live entertainment for decades. The theatre offers several productions each year, ranging from small, intimate shows to full-blown stage performances. With San Diego a 20-minute drive south, locals also have a broad range of cultural activities right on their doorstep, as well as beaches, shopping, and nightlife.
