Homes for Sale on Point Loma

Search all Point Loma houses for sale and real estate listings. Point Loma is a rugged and hilly peninsula that juts out into the Pacific Ocean, protecting San Diego Bay from waves and wind. Steeped in history and offering some of the most picturesque landscapes in Southern California, the Point Loma peninsula has two separate personalities.

You'll find commercial zones and residential pockets in the north, while the southern section is a protected park and military land. Although Point Loma is within a stone's throw of downtown San Diego, it offers a completely different atmosphere - more closely resembling that of a laid-back, suburban seaside village. About Point Loma Peninsula

Point Loma peninsula is home to a diverse collection of residents, and there are several distinct neighborhoods here, each with its own features and charm. One of the most desirable neighborhoods is the Wooded Area neighborhood with its quiet, tree-lined streets, parks, and stunning views from atop a hill near Sunset Cliffs.

Nearby, La Playa is a bayside neighborhood that's one of the best places in San Diego for boating, restaurants, and entertainment. Other communities include Point Loma Heights, Loma Portal, and Liberty Station, an impressive mixed-use redevelopment of San Diego's former Naval Training Center.

Point Loma encapsulates Southern California living, and residents have easy access to just about any outdoor activity associated with this part of the world. There's a long tradition of boating and fishing here, and locals head to the bay side for water-based fun. There are yacht clubs, sports fishing cruises, and plenty of small boat marinas here and shops and restaurants.

Occupying the southern portion of the peninsula, Cabrillo National Monument offers some of the best trails in the area, including the beautiful Bayside Trail, which provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. There are also incredible tide pools to explore here, and in the winter months, grey whale sightings are common.

There are a plethora of places to eat and drink throughout Point Loma Peninsula, and many local restaurants focus on fresh seafood. Options range from upscale dining with fabulous views to cozy dive bars and neighborhood joints serving up comfort food classics.

One of the most popular destinations in Point Loma is Liberty Station, a waterfront village that’s home to museums, galleries, artist studios, and a building that’s dedicated exclusively to dance. The most recent addition to this development is Liberty Public Market, where you’ll find some of San Diego’s best shopping. This 25,000 square foot facility houses artisan vendors selling everything from local seafood to specialty crafts, as well as wine and craft beer.

There's always something going on in Point Loma, with events and festivals held throughout the year. Friday Night Liberty is held on the first Friday of every month and features open art studios and events. Kobey's Swap Meet is a popular weekly event. Throughout the year, live music performances and dance concerts are held on the gorgeous grounds of Point Loma Nazarene University, and the atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly.
