The subdivision was completed in 2006 by Standard Pacific Homes. There are 75 two-story houses in the neighborhood. Floor plans range from 2,610 to 3,009 square feet with 4 to 6 bedrooms, 2.5 to 3 bathrooms, and 2-car or 3-car tandem garages. HOA dues are paid monthly.

Portomarin enjoys a very private location deep in the Talega hills, so there is little to no thru traffic and a quiet atmosphere. The community is set in a beautiful natural setting close to a large nature reserve and a few trails.

Due to elevation, some homes have beautiful views of the surrounding hills and the distant mountains, and select homes are situated on large lots that can measure up to 10,000 square feet.

Privacy is one of the main draws for living here. The community is also not too far from Liberty Park and Vista Del Mar School. Other area amenities are a bit further away, but the sense of solitude is fantastic and worth it.
