About Redondo Beach

Redondo Beach is known as a welcoming community with friendly people and a down to earth vibe. It’s a perfect place to live for folks who want to live in a laid-back town but still be close enough to Los Angeles to enjoy all the things a huge city has to offer. Plus, you get amazing year-round weather with salty air and ocean breezes to boot.

If you talk to Redondo Beach residents, a common theme emerges that the city is a safe place to live. The schools here are top-rated, too. Locals love nearly every aspect of the town with one common exception: the lack of parking spaces. This is not exclusively a Redondo Beach problem; it's hard to park in all the "Beach Cities" of Los Angeles County (the other two are Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach).

The waterfront area (harbor, pier, and beach) is the community's focal point where friends and neighbors connect. It also draws many tourists and visitors, especially on the weekends. But, Redondo Beach is a little less crowded on the weekends than other South Bay beachfront communities.

There are more nautically themed restaurants along the beach and marina than Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach. Throughout the community, not just at the waterfront, there are plenty of restaurants at all price points. Most shops here are smaller, locally-owned boutiques, which adds to the charm of Redondo Beach. For commodity goods, there are larger department stores just a few miles away in Hawthorne.

More places to enjoy in Redondo Beach:

  • Beaches – the shore here is known for being very clean
  • Redondo Beach Pier – plenty of dining and fishing, plus it is a phenomenal vantage point to watch sunsets
  • King Harbor Marina – Redondo is the only city in the South Bay with a harbor area complete with a marina
  • Pocket parks – plenty of parks dot the city and make great places for picnics and gatherings
