About Corona del Mar

As you might expect from a coastal community in Southern California, warm, sunny days are common in Corona del Mar, especially during the long spring and summer seasons. Corona del Mar is ideal for those who enjoy an active lifestyle, and residents have an almost endless choice of recreational activities from which to choose.

The beaches here rank among the best in Southern California, and locals enjoy spending time on the sand or in the water throughout the year. Corona del Mar State Beach, also known as Big Corona, features gentle waves that are safe for swimmers of all ages. Backed by rugged and scenic cliffs, Big Corona also offers volleyball nets and fire pits. Further south, Little Corona feels more like a local secret, and the crystal-clear water here makes for fantastic snorkeling. There are famous tidepools here, too, and the sunset views from the beach are second-to-none. For an even more secluded experience, locals head to China Cove, where the tiny beach is seldom crowded.

Away from the shoreline, Corona del Mar is full of neighborhood parks, each of which offers a different experience. Begonia Park is popular with local dog walkers, while 3-acre Grant Howard Park features sports fields, tennis courts, a children's playground, and a popular and thriving community center.

Golf is a popular activity in these parts, and Corona del Mar residents are spoiled for choice. Pelican Hill Golf Club is located in a luxury resort and offers 36 holes of world-class golf. Further north, Newport Beach Country Club is located just outside Corona del Mar's boundaries but remains a popular choice among local golfers. The course here is immaculately manicured, and the fantastic clubhouse offers an array of amenities.

Corona del Mar isn't the place to find big-box stores and chain restaurants. The bustling Pacific Coast Highway runs through the middle of the community and is lined with locally-owned stores, beloved local eateries, independent boutiques, and galleries. Corona del Mar is also home to a lively nightlife scene that's become well-known throughout Orange County. A handful of buzzing bars and restaurants are scattered throughout the neighborhood, all keeping the good times rolling well into the wee hours, with live music, DJs, and dancing.

For even more shopping, dining, and entertainment, Newport Beach's famous Fashion Island lies just a stone's throw from Corona del Mar, and locals can often be found here, browsing the upscale boutiques or catching a movie.
