About Toluca Lake

Lying just 12 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, Toluca Lake is a refined and upscale neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. Toluca Lake has long been a popular neighborhood among the Hollywood elite. The Bob Hope estate is among the community's most iconic landmarks, and the district continues to draw celebrity home buyers. Toluca Lake is a quiet and picturesque residential neighborhood tucked away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Hollywood and Burbank which makes it especially attractive to those who want access to big city amenities while living in a relaxed environment.

Many neighborhood streets are lined with impressive mature trees. Meandering through the neighborhood and admiring beautifully landscaped gardens is a perfect way to spend an afternoon here, and the vibes are always friendly and welcoming. Bordered by the Lakeside Golf Club, the neighborhood's namesake lake is now part of a gated community and only accessible by residents.

Toluca Lake is a fairly small neighborhood, but it does have a thriving commercial center. Riverside Drive runs through the community, offering a wide selection of shops and services. At the eastern edge of Toluca Lake, Riverside Drive becomes vibrant and eclectic. Here, the thoroughfare is lined with niche shops, independent boutiques, and upscale home goods stores. Thanks to the absence of chain retailers in this zone, it feels like an undiscovered gem of a district.

Several neighborhood businesses have been here for decades, including popular cafes, bakeries, and restaurants that draw visitors from all over the city. There's a buzzing nightlife scene here, too. Several bars and pubs keep things buzzing after dark, and there's also the beloved Falcon Theatre. This local institution has been putting on plays and musicals since 1997 and continues to thrive.

Technically located in neighboring Burbank, Bob's Big Boy diner is claimed by Toluca Lake residents as belonging to the community. The restaurant features an iconic, towering "Big Boy" statue that's now a protected landmark. The diner is also known for its Classic Car Show held on Friday nights. Each week, visitors come from far and wide to hang out and admire an incredible collection of vintage automobiles.

Although there aren't any parks in Toluca Lake, the incredible Griffith Park is mere minutes away. At well over 4,000 acres, this amazing urban park features miles of trails running through wild and rugged terrain. There are also golf courses here, picnic areas, sports facilities, train and pony rides, and fabulous city views.

Toluca Lake is quiet and understated for much of the year, but that all changes during the holiday season. Halloween gets the ball rolling, and the outrageously decorated houses wow children from all over the city. Christmas brings a wonderland of lights to Toluca Lake, and businesses along Riverside Drive give away freebies and hot chocolate to anyone and everyone.
