Eastern Columbia Lofts

Eastern Columbia Lofts is a high-rise residential building in the South Park neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles. Built in 1930, the Eastern Columbia Building is a 13-story art deco tower designed by architect Claud Beelman. The extravagant structure, clad in turquoise and gold leaf, represented the height of opulence when opened. A four-sided clock sits atop the tower emblazoned with "Eastern" in bright neon lights. There's little doubt this beauty has become one of the most iconic buildings in downtown Los Angeles.

About Eastern Columbia Building

In 2006, the building underwent a $30 million conversion to luxury condos. Residences were designed to highlight Eastern Columbia's historical status while providing high-end contemporary living spaces in the heart of LA's exciting historic core.

Located at 849 S Broadway in downtown Los Angeles, Eastern Columbia Lofts sits at the center of one of the city's most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods. Residents of Eastern Columbia Lofts are just moments from some of the best shopping, dining, and entertainment in the world.

Award-winning firm Killefer Flammang Architects converted the Eastern Columbia Building and interiors reimagined by renowned firm Kelly Wearstler Interior Design. Condo residences are authentic lofts with open floor plans and were originally sold with polished concrete floors and no interior doors or walls. Many owners have since installed wood floors and divided spaces to create separate rooms.

Most condos range from 800 to 1,200 square feet, with around 40 residences clocking in at 1,200 to 1,600 square feet. Five incredible penthouses comprised 2,500 square feet of space and were bought by a famous Hollywood actor.

Residences feature 11-foot ceilings as well as plentiful large windows. The interiors are light, airy, and spacious, and north and west-facing units have small balconies. Kitchens have been tastefully designed and feature quartz countertops, stainless steel Amana appliances, and European-style cabinetry. Bathrooms are large and luxurious, featuring generous soaking tubs, granite counters, custom-designed faucets, and shower and tub hardware.

On the ground floor, an elegant lobby maintains the building's original grandeur, with period fixtures and mirrors and tasteful seating areas. A private rooftop pool is one of the building's many hotel-style amenities, and the surrounding deck features recliners, umbrellas, and a fireplace, as well as incredible views of downtown. The Eastern Columbia Lofts also offers a modern fitness center and spa.
