About Cheviot Hills

Cheviot Hills lies between Sony and Fox Studios which explains, in part, the significant number of celebrities who've called the neighborhood home over the years. The neighborhood has also been the filming location for many motion pictures and television shows. Cheviot Hills is known for its natural beauty and bucolic vibe due to its gently rolling hills, mature shade trees, and wide streets. If a director needs a shot of an idyllic, Normal Rockwell-inspired neighborhood, this is the place to capture that vibe.

Cheviot Hills has a high number of open spaces and recreational areas for a neighborhood of its size, making it one of the least population-dense districts in Los Angeles.

Rancho Park Golf Course (public, 18-hole, championship course) - This course hosted 18 Los Angeles Opens and numbers LPGA and Senior tour events from 1978-1994. The lighted driving range is perfect for folks who want to hone their swing during the day or night.

Hillcrest Country Club (private, 18-hole course) - Hillcrest opened in 1920, a time when Jews were not permitted to join non-Jewish country clubs. Hillcrest was the first Los Angeles country club for the city's Jewish community. It attracted many Hollywood stars and motion picture studio executives from Groucho Marx and Milton Berle to Louis B. Mayer and Sam Goldwyn. When Hillcrest membership opened to non-Jews, their first choice for a new member was Danny Thomas. The club is still known as a place for the Hollywood elite to play.

Cheviot Hills Recreation Center - Amenities include tennis courts, playground, outdoor basketball courts, picnic area, archery range, pin area, pool, and baseball diamonds.
