About Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is home to an eclectic mix of residents, and the small-town feel here makes it feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of nearby cities. Neighbors get to know one another in Laguna Beach. This sense of community expresses itself in dedication to local causes such as the Laguna Canyon Foundation, which strives to protect nearby wilderness areas.

Downtown Laguna Beach is a bustling and charming commercial area that is filled with unique shops, boutiques, cafes, and bars. The tree-lined streets buzz with activity day and night. Local art is always on display in the many galleries here, and you’ll find cuisines from all over the world in the many local restaurants, including Japanese, Italian, and American. The commerical core of the city is surrounded by residential streets lined with protected Craftsman bungalows dating to the early 1900s.

Held throughout the year, First Thursdays Art Walks are a great way to experience the Laguna Beach community. Dozens of local galleries open their doors, and there’s a free hop-on, hop-off trolley service. The Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts Pageant of the Masters is the largest annual event with workshops, demonstrations, and tours held throughout the summer months.

Laguna Beach encompasses seven miles of spectacular coastline, and the wonderful year-round climate here makes it possible to enjoy beach days at any time of the year. There are loads of hidden coves and beaches to discover, as well as plenty of easily accessible options.

Main Beach is located right in the heart of the city and features a boardwalk and restrooms. Thousand Steps Beach lies at the bottom of the 9th Avenue Stairs and offers a stunning stretch of sand. This is a favorite local spot for surfing and beach volleyball. Victoria Beach is another local favorite for paddle boarding and snorkeling and features the Insta-worthy Pirate Tower.

In the center of town, Heisler Park is a beloved local green space. This wonderful park, set atop rocky bluffs, features tropical landscaping and walking trails, benches, a pretty gazebo, and breathtaking views of Catalina Island.

Laguna Beach is famous for its surfing, paddle boarding, and skimboarding spots, but it’s also well-known for fantastic hiking and mountain biking trails. Away from the shoreline, there are miles of trails running through Aliso Canyon and Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

Locals are passionate about coming together to celebrate their community, and it seems like there’s always something to do in Laguna Beach.
