About Carlsbad

Known as the "Village by the Sea," Carlsbad has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Locals are rightly proud of their city’s natural beauty, and the mild year-round climate is ideal for getting the most out of all that’s on offer here.

Carlsbad is home to several wonderful beaches, ranging from quiet and undeveloped stretches of sand to vibrant areas with plenty of amenities. Terra Mar Point is a popular spot among local surfers and never feels overcrowded.

Tamarack Beach is always buzzing and draws families with kids, surfers, scuba divers, and fishermen. You'll find the Carlsbad Seawall here, a paved 4-mile path that separates the beach from Highway 101. Locals come here to exercise and take in the spectacular sunsets as the day ends.

Carlsbad is home to many world-renowned golf equipment manufacturers, so it’s no surprise that the sport is popular here. Carlsbad has some excellent golf courses, including the famous and historical Omni La Costa courses and the Aviara Golf Course at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort - an Arnold Palmer signature course featuring rolling hills, ocean views, and stunning manicured landscaping.

The centrally located Carlsbad Village is a small and vibrant district that's the commercial core of the community. Locals enjoy browsing in art galleries and antique stores before heading to one of several neighborhood cafes and restaurants for lunch. There's also a great farmers market in Carlsbad Village every Wednesday, where residents come to buy locally grown produce and artisanal crafts.

There's always plenty to do in Carlsbad, including the amazing LEGOLAND California resort. LEGOLAND is a popular destination among kids of all ages, and the unique Sea Life Aquarium sits next door. In March and April, the Flower Fields of Carlsbad explode into color as 50 acres of giant ranunculus flowers begin to bloom. Spring is a favorite time of year in the area, and special events are held throughout the season.

Community events and festivals are held throughout the year in Carlsbad, including the 3-day Carlsbad Music Festival in September and the TGIF Concerts in the Parks throughout the summer months. By far, the biggest and most popular event is the Carlsbad Village Faire. The fair is held twice annually (May and November) and is the largest single-day street fair in the nation.
